Controlling the Redarc Tow-Pro Link
The REDARC Tow‑Pro Link is controlled two ways, via a smartphone app and a physical remote. Powered by Bluetooth, it’s versatile, easy to use and completely safe.
The smartphone app isa vailable on iOS and Android. It connects to the controller and allows you to adjust brake settings, check fault history, view device info and even get firmware update notifications.
You could also choose to use the USB-powered remote, which is an available add-on to your Link purchase. It plugs into a USB socket and sticks neatly on your dash or centre console, offering a simple interface to manually control braking force or switch between normal and off-road braking modes. This is handy when you don’t want to rely on your phone.
You can also control the Link via the Tow-Pro app in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Self-Install Your Tow-Pro Link
One of the great things about the Redarc Tow-Pro Link is that it’s designed to keep vehicle modifications to a minimum when you install it.
The towbar-mounted brake controller is discreetly and firmly attached to your towbar. Then, rather than drilling holes and hardwiring a controller into your dashboard, you simply attach the low-profile remote using the supplied adhesive mount.

Why is Dual Mode Breaking Important?
Dual-mode braking is important because towing needs change depending on where you drive. The Tow-Pro Link Electric Brake Controller features two braking modes: Everyday Mode and Manual Off-road Mode, so you can adapt your level of control to the driving conditions.
Everyday Mode: Perfect for everyday use and highway driving. This mode uses proportional braking, which means the trailer brakes are applied in proportional response to how hard the brake pedal is pressed. This makes for a smooth and predictable stop.
Manual Off-road Mode: Used in off-road and 4WD driving situations. Designed for more challenging conditions like steep descents or uneven terrain. The driver has manual control of the braking force and can suit it to the surface they’re operating on. You get improved traction, stability, and safety as a result.
Do I need a Brake Controller?
Trailers with electric or electric-over-hydraulic brakes need a brake controller to assist in controlling those brakes. The controller, such as the Redarc Tow-Pro Link, tells the trailer brakes when to work and how hard to apply themselves. The system doesn’t work without the controller.
In Australia, there are legal restrictions stipulating when trailer brakes are required:
- Trailers with a Gross Trailer Mass (GTM) over 2,000kg must have electric brakes on every wheel. A proportional brake controller must be fitted to the vehicle.
- For trailers between 750 kg and 2,000 kg, at least one axle must be braked. Electric brakes with a controller would be our recommendation here. That’ll give you smooth and safe braking.
