The Queensland coast is rust country! High humidity, big rains and salty air and water – these are the perfect conditions for rust to thrive in. It can set into areas that you can’t see and quietly take over. By the time you notice, it can be all through your vehicle. Staying on top of it requires careful planning and meticulous maintenance.
There are a number of rust-proofing solutions out there, but at Speedy Towbars we believe in CouplerTec Electronic Rustproofing. Tried and tested by us, it’s a practical solution offering ongoing protection for Aussie vehicles, and it’s available right here at Speedy Towbars
Let’s take a close look at Couplertec and how it helps vehicle owners protect their investment!
What is CouplerTec?
CouplerTec was started on the Gold Coast, so you know they have firsthand experience of what rust can do to a vehicle.
They’ve developed an electronic rust-proofing system that has surged in popularity in all sectors of the motoring industry. It’s genius in its practicality and simplicity, slowing corrosion across the entire body of a vehicle, even those spots you can’t see.
CouplerTec is the relentless partner you need to take on rust. Once it’s connected to your vehicle battery, it starts to fight corrosion and operates continuously.
How Does Electronic Rust Proofing Work?
Rust is the product of iron in metal reacting with oxygen and moisture. Iron and oxygen have opposite charges, so they seek each other out. When they combine, oxidation happens, which is when the rust forms.
The corrosion weakens the metal, getting under paint and compromising structural components.
Electronic rustproofing works by targeting that reaction and reducing the ability of oxygen ions to bond to the metal. This effectively cuts off corrosion at the source.
CouplerTec’s Patented ‘Capacitive Coupling Technology’ system is composed of a control unit attached to the vehicle battery. Electric cabling connects this to capacitive couplers that are connected directly to the vehicle body.
The couplers and the control unit create a negative electrostatic surface charge on the metal surface of the vehicle. This negative charge repels negative oxygen atoms, preventing the chemical reaction that creates corrosion from occurring.
What we love about this is there isn’t any spray painting or chemicals involved. Once CouplerTec is installed, your vehicle is protected from corrosion.
CouplerTec Benefits
If your vehicle is exposed to demanding conditions, or you like to wander off the beaten track with it, then there are a bunch of advantages you’ll enjoy from CouplerTec.
Continuous protection
Post-installation, CouplerTec ensures continued protection by yearly inspections at your place of installation to make sure your system is always functioning. At home, the occasional check that the green light of the control module is on is all the effort you need. No maintenance is required, it quietly works in the background.
Whole-of-vehicle coverage
The electronic protection covers the entire metal shell of the vehicle. This includes internal cavities and boxed sections that sprays and coatings cannot reach.
No mess or buildup
It’s a simple installation process that involves no spraying or residues. Nothing drips, nothing attracts dirt – just a couple of pieces of gear and some wiring attached tidily to your vehicle.
Paint kept looking like new
Electronic rustproofing keeps your paintwork looking new for longer by preventing oxidation.
Good resale value
When it’s time to hand the vehicle over to a new owner, it’s still going to look schmick. The structural integrity will be spot on too, and buyers are going to notice. You will retain the value nicely.
Who Uses CouplerTec?
4WD enthusiasts
We love a bit of off-roading. Who doesn’t love motoring up the beach? It can be pretty tough on vehicles though – mud, sand, water crossings. You try to clean everything out when you get home, but there are always spots you can’t reach. CouplerTec reaches those, though – it provides protection around your entire vehicle. It’s one less thing to worry about when you go off-road.
Tradies
Work vehicles in Australia get put through their paces. It’s not just lugging heavy gear around – they’re exposed to dirt, moisture and debris. A ute is a valuable piece of gear for a tradie, and they like to extend their lifespan as much as possible. It helps them extract as much value as possible out of their investment. Rust protection from CouplerTec helps them do that.
New vehicle owners
If you install CouplerTec when you buy a new vehicle, you’re protecting it before corrosion has any opportunity to set in. It’s peace of mind from day one.
Mining companies
A mine site can be a highly corrosive environment, with heat, moisture and dust all contributing to increased wear on a vehicle. That’s why many mining companies rely on CouplerTec to protect their assets and extend lifespan.
Surf lifesaving organisations
A vehicle that spends its life by the beach has constant exposure to salt and moisture. Surf lifesaving clubs need vehicles they can rely on. Electronic rust proofing is a way to keep their vehicles reliable for longer.
Government bodies
Councils and government agencies use fleet vehicles with long service cycles. CouplerTec supports the long-term use of these assets and keeps operating costs down.
